For more than a century, Meister Cheese has been known as a high-volume producer of award-winning American style cheese. Our founder Joseph Meister specialized in making flavorful Cheddar cheese, and Meister Cheese continues to win awards with the family recipes. See our awards. Over the years, we have added flavored Monterey Jacks, Colby, Havarti, Gouda and other varieties, also recognized for their taste and quality.

Our Family Story
From surviving a devastating fire to building our sister company, Muscoda Protein Products, Meister Cheese is a company that knows how to innovate. We pride ourselves on working in a highly collaborative manner with our customers to help them stand out and compete.

Original Operations

Our founder, Joseph Meister

Joseph had 11 children (9 of the 11 pictured here) that grew up in the living quarters above the cheese factory.

At first, milk was unloaded via cans, which were manually moved from the truck to the factory. Due to the development of milk trucks and milk unloading, Stanley (Joseph's son) and his wife, Phyllis, made the decision to relocate to Muscoda, WI to allow for better milk delivery and additional expansion opportunities.

Since the 1970's Meister Cheese has been located in Muscoda, WI where Stanley's 4 children helped grow it to what it is today. Now, Scott, his two children and the rest of the incredible team members at Meister Cheese operate the facility.
